What it is, and what it is not

Word Drill Generator is a material maker for speech sound practice. You give it the target sound and the conditions from your assessment, and it lays out a printable round: the word list, the phoneme in IPA beside each spelling, a scoring sheet that totals a percent correct, a cut-out card page and a one-page home pack. The round is produced in the browser from a pool that is fixed at build time, so the same settings and the same round key always give the same words, and a new round key gives a fresh, still-valid set.

It does not diagnose a speech sound disorder, does not decide eligibility for services, does not score a standardised assessment, and it does not give medical, hearing or feeding advice. It does not write invoices, Medicare or NDIS claims. Those are clinical and practice-management jobs for other people and other tools. Word Drill Generator makes the practice material and says so.

How a round is built

Each word in the pool carries the phonemes it holds, the position of each of those phonemes (initial, medial or final), its syllable count and shape, its age band, its literacy concept tags and its Australian or US spelling. A round filters the pool by your target sound, position, word length band, tier, age band and excluded error sounds, then picks the words with a seeded shuffle, so the selection is reproducible and never drawn from anything outside the pool.
